CINECATic @ Cannes Update!

5 days left til I arrive in Cannes!

I'm writing this from my relatively safe nesting corner of my bed. The rest of my room I'm treating as a minefield since I can't see the carpet and because in an effort to make it to my closet the other day, I stood on and subsequently mangled my favourite sunglasses. From this point though, I can spot no less than six different shoes with no partner, about ten assorted tea mugs and an insurmountable pile of skirts and dresses. I guess I've been pretty busy packing re-watching season 2 of The O.C. Non-existent organizational skills aside, I've been preparing for my Eurotrip by shopping and doing what I do best - sitting around on my ass, watching movies.  A quick glance at my 365 day movie challenge blog will tell you that this week I indulged in such cinematic masterpieces as There's Something About MaryLara Croft: Tomb Raider and...Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. So I'm not the pickiest film-watcher, but that'll come in handy since I plan on watching as many films as possible at Cannes. At least next week when I'm not doing intern-y things (okay, I still don't really know what my job is) and I'm sitting around on my ass watching'll be in the flippin' South of France.

So here are some of the most highly anticipated films at Cannes this year and movies I'm damned excited for:

The Bling Ring dir. Sofia Coppola

Only God Forgives dir. Nicolas Winding Refn

As I Lay Dying dir. James Franco

Blood Ties dir. Guillaume Canet

Inside Llewyn Davis dirs. Joel & Ethan Coen

La Vénus à la fourrure dir. Roman Polanski

The Great Gatsby dir. Baz Luhrmann

Only Lovers Left Alive dir. Jim Jarmusch

Jeune & Jolie dir. François Ozon

Behind the Candelabra dir. Steven Soderbergh
