Film Recommendations: Noirvember

3:47 PM

October was a month reserved exclusively for horror films - The Exorcist, Saw, Carrie, The Evil Dead etc. December will be my month of Holiday films - Love Actually, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, Die Hard (don't even pretend like Die Hard isn't the ultimate Christmas movie). But now that it's November, what kinds of films are we supposed to watch for a month that's awkwardly sandwiched between such distinctly festive times of year? Well, now that we’re all in withdrawal from Halloween gore-fests and general mind-fucks, I’m proposing that we turn our gaze to film noir in celebration of Noir-vember - an entire month dedicated to viewings of noir films! The rain-drenched shots, paired with melancholic voiceovers is the perfect coupling anyway to November’s gross weather and grey skies. Let’s be bitter through the power of film! Here are a few recommendations to get you started on your Noirvember viewings!
